You will probably see a slightly higher ROF and better trigger response with the 7.4v lipo than you would with the 9.6v, but for a 9.6v to be on par with the 7.4v just go with a 9.6v with dean's and a AWS Fet and your set. If you really really want to go lipo just go with a 11.1v and do some research on maintaining lipo batteries. study we don't want you catching the field on fire now do we.

P.S. for those of you that haven't switched to dean's shame on you...lol

Yes the 7.4v Lipo is slightly higher ROF, but by far exceeds the reliability of the 9.6v. Any battery can (not that it necessarily will) explode if you're being a retard and push the it out of spec. Keep your lipo within specs (easy to do), and you wont have a problem. Li-Poly packs will hold a charge much longer, and while unused discharge much less than a NiMH / NiCad pack. Li-Poly packs are able to fit more voltage and wattage in a smaller package and discharge it at a much higher rate (current / amperage), than NiCad or NiMH packs, by far.

A couple weeks ago I switched from using a 9.6 to a 7.4 lipo and have been loving it so far. The only problem I've had is that if I use full auto excessively, then my motor heats up to the point that I can feel it through my gloves. Other then that, I love it.
