These are great targets for both your primary and secondary. It is a simple and cheap way to make an effective target that you can hear and see move if it hit.
Things You will need:
A wood base
Clothes hanger
Paper clip or other small, flexible wire
Metal lid (the larger and thicker the better. Aluminum pie pans suck so dont even try it.)
Tools:
Needle nose pliers
Drill
A metal cutter can come in handy along with some heavy duty pliers
Step 1- Cut the wood base to the desired length and drill two holes in the wood to put the sides of the target into. (The bit should be the same diameter as the clothes hanger.)
Step 2- Cut the clothes hanger into two straight, equal sections and place them in the holes in the wood. Cut a smaller section of the clothes hanger a little larger than the length of the holes in the wood.
Step 3- Bend the top of the clothes hangers with your needle nose pliers and slide the smaller section of clothes hanger through the loops at the top of the larger sections. Bend the ends of the smaller section so it does not slide out.
Step 4- Take the paper clip and unbend it. Take the the metal lid and bend it over the paper clip. Bend the paper clip around the smaller section of the clothes hanger but not to tight so it can still move freely around the clothes hanger.
Note- It may take some adjusting to get it to work right.
